The new generation of restyled Model S and Model X was unveiled in January 2021 but deliveries of the copies are long overdue. The Model S Plaid, the ultra-powerful version of the sedan, was to be the first to go into production. The delay accumulated to finish with an arrival in May.

Now Elon Musk is asking you to give him one more week. Seven days, before responding to the first customers and bringing its models off production lines. On Twitter, the boss of Tesla even committed to the date of June 10 by promising “a live event” for the occasion.

The reason for the delay

Since January, the automotive market has experienced some difficult obstacles that concern tech in general, especially with regard to microprocessors. At Tesla, the reason for the delay put forward for the Model S Plaid concerns the arrival of the new powertrain taken from the famous “Palladium” project.

The latter plans to develop a dazzling acceleration in less than two seconds at 0 to 100 km / h for the sedan. It will be even more powerful than the Long Range version, and will open the ball to the next Model S Plaid + and its announced 840 kilometers of autonomy. Then the Roadster should arrive with 0-100 km / h acceleration in just 1.1 seconds.

The live presentation of the first deliveries will also be the occasion to confirm the presence of a steering wheel derived from aeronautics – without upper arch. Still in the passenger compartment, new screens will be integrated into the dashboard but also into the rear passenger seats.

The new Tesla software will be accompanied by a technical improvement, with a tablet with the graphics power of 10 teraflops, the equivalent of a PlayStation 5. If we are to believe Tesla’s words, it will now be possible to connect a console controller and launch AAA games.
