SEGA formalizes her his Game Gear Micro

After the Mega Drive Mini a few months ago, the giant SEGA decided to continue on the path of miniature replica. No Dreamcast Mini or even Saturn Mini, since the Japanese group has decided to relaunch its famous portable console Game Gear. Great news at first glance for fans, but this Game Gear Micro is quickly enough to make even the biggest fan of the brand disillusioned…

Indeed, the Game Gear Micro is famous (among others) for its energy consumption, and for its size. With its Game Gear Micro, SEGA decided to correct the situation, by offering a miniature replica … too miniature. Like the Game Boy Micro in its time, the SEGA console fits in the palm of your hand, with a fairly microscopic size that promises to be particularly restrictive for the eyes (and thumbs).

Four colors, four (different) games…

The other bad news is that this Game Gear Micro will be available in four colors. So far nothing serious, the original black color is good. The "Snag"is that each version will contain a total of four different games. And of course, SEGA has taken care to distribute its flagship games in the different colors… The black model notably contains Sonic, the red model allows you to play Shinobi, the blue model with Gunstar Heroes…

In this way, SEGA hopes that fans of the brand will decide to buy the four versions of this Game Gear Micro. A console that will be launched in Japan on October 6, at a unit price of around 40 euros. To those who purchase the four versions, SEGA will offer an accessory called the Big Window, a magnifying glass to clip onto the console screen. For its part, the console will operate on two AAA batteries (or via a USB cable).

A Game Gear Micro that is part of a series of announcements from SEGA to celebrate the brand's 60th anniversary. We still hope that SEGA will have something else to offer its fans than this little Game Gear Micro which we can hardly find any interest in truth…
