Apple announced its new low cost iPhone on April 15. While several rumors claimed that it was going to be called iPhone 9, it was finally named iPhone SE, like the previous model released in 2016 and much appreciated by the public. The iPhone SE 2020 thus offers a perfect compromise between a compact design and great technological power, embodied by the A13 Bionic chip. Exactly the same as on the iPhone 11, but less than 500 euros …
The iPhone 9 will therefore never join the great family of iPhone! While Apple had switched from iPhone 8 to iPhone X, many rumors suggested that the new model presented on April 15 could be called iPhone 9, since it takes the design of the iPhone 8, but with the iPhone 11 technology.
But ultimately, this new compact iPhone at a reduced price is called iPhone SE, exactly like the one, based on the same principle, released in 2016. It is therefore the second generation for this model, and the iPhone 9 will not see probably never the day. Lovers of logical continuation will therefore be a little sad, but perhaps the characteristics of this new iPhone, already dubbed SE 2020, will be able to console them. As expected, it takes the design of the iPhone 8, with a 4.7-inch Retina HD screen with wide borders, and the famous home button which is making a comeback. The Touch ID fingerprint reader which unlocks the device is also present on this model, which like its big brothers is resistant to water and dust. The iPhone SE comes in three colors: black, white, and (PRODUCT) RED, a more stylish way of saying “red”. Note that part of the profits from the sales of this third model will be donated to the fight against COVID-19. But now let’s take a look at its capabilities, since it’s well known: “it’s the inside that counts”.
IPhone SE has the same chip as iPhone 11
This is where Apple is doing very well, by integrating in its new iPhone SE the A13 Bionic chip, the most efficient on the market, which precisely equips iPhone 11 and 11 Pro, released last fall. Capable of carrying out five billion tasks per second, a little more than you and me, it offers remarkable performance, guaranteeing a very pleasant speed of execution of tasks, and a total fluidity of navigation. But also fast and efficient recharging, with 50% of the battery being able to be charged in just 30 minutes. And what the A13 chip also allows is to enhance the photo mode …
More compact than the iPhone 11 and other high-end models, the iPhone SE has only one lens, a wide angle of 12 Megapixels. Combined with the A13 chip, the camera therefore allows the optimization of the Portrait mode, but also several types of automated lighting according to the needs of the moment thanks to the integrated Smart HDR. Video is no slouch, with high-quality capture in 4K, and audio recording in stereo. Enough to effectively capture memories, being able to film without having to exit photo mode, and with simple and intuitive editing tools already integrated.
Because like every iPhone, this SE 2020 benefits from the Apple ecosystem, and therefore all the tools, accessories and all the applications provided to be able to best support its activities, whether they are daily, fun or sports.
IPhone SE will be available for pre-order from April 17, and for sale on Friday, April 24 on the SFR online store.
