According to the Bloomberg newspaper and its Apple specialist Mark Gurman, Apple would consider the production of an Apple Watch more solid, possibly with a rubber case to better resist shocks.
This new model of Apple watch would be intended for use in environments in which the case can be subject to many impacts, such as when practicing extreme sports (climbing, kitesurfing, BMX, etc.).
It could be called Apple Watch Explorer Edition and would therefore be introduced in the range alongside the classic Apple Watch, without dislodging the Nike or Hermès versions. This special “adventurer” watch would have the same functions as the other models, but would have improved resistance thanks to a case made of a material similar to that used on Casio G-Shock watches for example.
It could arrive as early as this year, Apple having used us to introduce new watches in the fall for some time. But it is also possible that the Californian giant will take more time to work on its subject and wait until 2022.
As it stands, the Apple Watch already has many practical features for athletes, for different types of activities, from running to swimming, biking and yoga. But with the sport and health turn that the watch took a few years ago, brilliantly moreover, we imagine that a hyper resistant version would make sense and could appeal to a certain audience.
What do you think ? Would you be tempted by such an Apple Watch for sports and extreme situations?
