It was presented in Los Angeles last November 18th, and now it is out of stock, only 10 days later. Ford's first electric car, known as the Mustang Mach-E, is very popular, according to the brand's statement, in an interview with our colleagues at Roadshow.
The Mach-E Mustang is not expected before the end of 2020, but not all versions will be available next year. Indeed, only "First Edition" and "Premium" models will begin their deliveries, and the rest of the variants – namely the Select, California Route 1 and GT Performance Edition – are planned for the next two years.
A good start for Ford's first electric car
At this point, it is still unclear how many sales have actually been realized. Ford did not communicate about it. The only numerical data made public so far is the first year of production of the model, which will be limited to the release of 50,000 copies of the production lines.
This limit is due to Ford's lack of experience in the production of electric cars, which will take some time before reaching the same performance as Tesla. The Californian brand has already sold more than 97,000 vehicles in a single quarter at the end of 2018.
Generally, the "First Edition" variants are still quite limited in terms of numbers, which suggests that Ford has not made more than 20,000 sales. But to see the release schedule of its different versions, where only the "Premium" version will come out of the factories in parallel, the good start of the Mustang Mach-E seems to be confirmed.
Competition to Model 3?
Overwhelmed by the news of the duel pickup Tesla Cybertruck Ford F-150, the news of the firm of Detroit hides a more serious competition still with the Californian brand of Elon Musk. Now, the Mustang Mach-E will be a real competitor to the Tesla Model 3.
As a reminder, the prices of the Mustang Mach-E will range from 48,990 to 69,500 euros depending on the model and version. The longest-range model targets up to 600 km (370 miles) in the WLTP cycle. Similarly, the GT version with the most advanced performance is expected to achieve a 0 to 100 km / h below the 5 seconds, and its power is estimated at 465 ch.
