The AAA Data platform has delivered its results concerning sales of electric vehicles in France since the start of 2021. And to everyone’s surprise, the one that seemed unconquerable, namely the small Renault ZOE, would have given way to a competitor American, namely a certain Tesla Model 3.
Tesla Model 3 tops sales in France in 2021
Indeed, according to the signed count AAA Data, between January 1 and May 31, 8,083 Tesla Model 3 were sold in France. It’s better than the Renault ZOE, which has a total of 7,448 new registrations. A Renault ZOE which has a lot to do with a compatriot, namely the Peugeot e-208.
Indeed, the small electric car of the manufacturer with the lion seduces many motorists, since the latter recorded a total of 7,233 sales in France. Then come the little Twingo, then the Fiat 500 e.
On the Volkswagen side, sales are struggling to take off as regards the ID range. Indeed, in France, there are only 1786 ID.3 sold since the beginning of 2021. Obviously, it will be interesting to follow the evolution of the market during the second part of the year, in order to see for example if the small Dacia Spring, with its very attractive price, manages to upset the top three.
It should be remembered that in 2021, the electric car market in France shows a very clear increase, of the order of 45%, compared to last year. A trend that should evolve over the months, the majority of manufacturers having already committed to a strategy aimed at offering a predominantly (or even totally) electric fleet within a few years.
