A few months ago, Ford has turned its famous Mustang into an astonishing Mach-E SUV. Soon, the American manufacturer will set about competing with Tesla, with a new 100% electric car that clearly aims to compete with the future Cybertruck. A new zero-emission vehicle that will be inspired by another flagship model of the brand: the F-150.

The Ford F-150 in “Lightning” mode

Indeed, in the United States, the Ford F-150 is a pick-up particularly popular with motorists, which has known no less than 13 generations since its first launch in 1948. The 100% electric version of this famous pick-up will be thus baptized “Lightning”, and Ford decided to teaser the whole in video.

“It’s a fact that a new vehicle regularly shakes up the market and is a game-changer. Model T, Mustang, Prius, Model 3, and now the F-150 Lightning. America’s favorite vehicle for nearly half a century is going digital and electric ” Jim Farley proudly explains.

In addition to allowing its owner to travel in zero emission mode, the Ford F-150 Lightning also promises other features, since the CEO of Ford explains for example that it will be able … to power the house during power failure. Obviously, like any good self-respecting electric and connected vehicle, the new Ford F-150 Lightning will be able to offer new features via updates, much like our game consoles, smartphones and Smart TVs.

Remember that from 2030, Ford aims to sell exclusively electric cars in Europe. From mid-2026, all models in the range will be available in plug-in hybrid or electric versions. The future will therefore be electric at Ford… or it will not be. Ford will present its electric pickup in more detail on May 19.
