The result is undisputed, 2020 was the year of all records for the video game industry. With $ 165 billion in revenue generated, video games largely dominate the entertainment industry. The pandemic has further reinforced this already observable trend, and gaming has become a popular activity in this period of health crisis.

However, that does not mean that all is well in this universe. One of the problems mentioned by the developers is the accumulation of delays related in particular to teleworking. As part of the Game Developers Conference, a survey made it possible to interview 3000 developers to find out a little more about the concerns they may encounter on a daily basis.

Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus are more accepted than in the past

44% of respondents mentioned a delay in the delivery of their game due to covid-19, while this did not affect 49% of participants. We can see here that this issue is becoming more crucial since only 33% of developers mentioned an additional delay in the same survey last June.

This problem does not, however, call teleworking into question. Moreover, 35% of respondents believe that this considerably increases their productivity. 32% say it doesn’t change the game. Finally, 32% believe that their creativity was affected by this new method of organization.

Among the other lessons from this survey, we can see that developers are a little more open to Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus offers. Thus, only 21% of them think that these systems lower the price of games, against 27% a year earlier.

The world conducted a comprehensive investigation into the concerns that the pandemic is creating for the video game industry.
