In 2021, more than ever, car manufacturers absolutely must succeed in switching to electric power to stay in the race. For a few years now, the various car fleets have started to become electrified, but those belonging to brands, including the image, do not necessarily match that of the clean automobile. This is the case, for example, with Chevrolet, which has accustomed us for years to large and particularly polluting vehicles.

However, as mentioned above, it is essential today to pass this course to remain competitive. Owned by the General Motos group, Chevrolet has just announced the upcoming launch of its all-electric Silverado EV pickup. General Motors chairman Mark Reuss said Chevrolet will use the Ultium EV platform to complete this project. The CEO also explains that the General Motors Factory ZERO plant will be made available to Chevrolet to assemble this vehicle from a new area for this iconic brand.

The whole identity of Chevrolet in an electric vehicle

According to the first information we managed to get, the Silverado EV should be able to cover almost 650 kilometers on a single charge. If this is confirmed, Chevrolet’s vehicle should come in direct competition with Tesla’s 2020 Model S Long-Range Plus. In addition, the electric pick-up format will propel Chevrolet into a particularly competitive market, with manufacturers such as Ford, Nikola, Rivian, or even Tesla with its Cybertruck.

In a statement, Mark Reuss said: “Vehicles from Factory ZERO will change the world and the way the world views electric vehicles ”. The latter claims that the Chevrolet Silverado EV will pick up everything loyal Chevy pickup buyers love, but in an electric version. Chevrolet intends to market its Silverado EV to individuals, but also in the form of fleets for companies.
