US smartphone giant Apple is said to have forecast a massive entry into the 5G era in 2020.
In September 2019, Apple shocked its followers: the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro are not compatible with 5G. Certainly, the future revolutionary mobile network has not yet arrived. But its deployment is scheduled for 2020 and it seemed logical to prepare for it as early as 2019.
However, the apple brand would have decided to repair its “oversight”. The company led by Tim Cook should not go with the back of the spoon and offer a range of no less than four iPhone compatible with 5G.
Why has Apple decided to skip 5G on its latest iPhones? The reason is simple: to integrate compatible technology that has already been tested and approved. This is the choice that the American firm had already made when switching from 3G to 4G. Regarding 5G, it could react a little faster according to analysts.
Analysts predict four patterns
Ming-Chi Kuo, a Taiwanese financial analyst who has a habit of reliably announcing upcoming Apple releases, had already predicted no less than three 5G iPhone models in 2020. But it looks like another crystal ball has spoken and let her raise the stakes. That of Dan Ives, American analyst for Wedbush Securities. According to him, it would be well, not three but four models of the kind that would arrive next year. Information that has not been confirmed by Apple.
If we follow these predictions, we can therefore deduce that the three successors of the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, would be compatible with 5G. Potentially, therefore, the iPhone 12, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. What about the fourth model? It could well be an iPhone SE2, the more affordable mid-range smartphone that Apple would like to market. If it seems absurd that a cheap smartphone is compatible with 5G, we can imagine that it will be a strategy of the Apple brand to attract a whole new category of customers.
It will probably be a few months before Apple affirms or denies this prediction. For now, in France, the only smartphones compatible with 5G are marketed by SFR. It’s about Huawei Mate 20 X 5G, of Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G and Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G.
