Cross-play is here for Battlefield 2042
Cross-play has been one of the features most requested by fans of multiplayer-oriented games for a few years now. This is of course the case for this future Battlefield 2042, and the developers wanted to confirm certain specificities in the context of a question and answer session.
Starting this summer, the game will undergo a small committee test on PS5, Xbox Series and PC, which will notably test cross-play. Electronic Arts specifies that a beta phase open to more players will also be offered before the game’s release, certainly in September. The publisher also wanted to reassure players regarding the cross-platform progression.
On the side of DICE, we explain: “Along with cross-play, we’re also building cross-progression and cross-trade for the new Battlefield 2042, which will be shared across all platforms, so you can travel with you wherever you go. For example, your unlocked progress and your purchases made in your PlayStation version of the game will indeed be in the game on the Xbox or PC version, and vice versa.”

Remember that Battlefield 2042 will allow, on PS5, Xbox Series and PC, to enjoy online battles including a total of 128 players. All these beautiful people will be able to play together, via the magic of cross-play therefore, but it will also be possible to play only with PS5, Xbox or PC players. The game will also be offered on PS4 and Xbox One, but will be limited here to “only” 64 players per session.
