With the release of the PS5 today in France, you are probably thousands to spend your first hours on your new consoles. Before relaunching your old games which are all backward compatible, you will undoubtedly enjoy new hits like Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales, Demons Soul’s or Sackboy A Big Adventure.
But if you want to relaunch a small GTA V, a The Last Of Us Part.II, or even resume your FIFA career, it will be useful to transfer your saves so you don’t start all over again. How to do ? It’s very simple.
Transfer your PS4 saves to PS5
From the main menu of the console, go to the upper right corner of the menu (the little wheel next to your profile picture).
Once in the settings, go to the second part of the drop-down menu in the “Saved data and game / application settings” category.
Once in this menu, go to the second tab with “Saved data (PS4)”. Then, go to the “Cloud storage” option.
Here, choose the first option with “Download to console storage”. You will then have access to the list of all your saved data.
Please note, to perform this operation you must be a PS Plus subscriber and you must have copied your PS4 saves to the PS Plus Cloud! For those who need help, we will detail the manipulation a little further down in this tutorial.

Once you get to the list of your PS4 saves, just select the data you want to copy to your PS5. You can also “select all”.
Once you’ve made your selection, hit “Download” and you’re done. Launch your PS4 game and you will have all your progress!
Secure your PS5 data in the cloud
This time, we’re going to secure your PS5 data in the cloud to make sure that you never lose your backups even if something goes wrong with your console. Still from the main menu, go back to the console settings at the top right in the small wheel.
Again, go to the bottom of the menu with “Saved data and game / application settings”.
This time, select the first tab with “PS5 Saved Data”, then start by clicking “Sync Saved Data”.
Always be careful, to carry out these operations you also need an active subscription to the PS Plus!
Take the first option with the “Show synchronization status”. With this option, you will be able to see all your applications and all your PS5 games installed on your console and see which ones are secure or not. Go back, and this time click on “Automatic synchronization of saved data”.
Choose the games and apps you want to secure. Then validate. Thus, once a day, the PS5 will turn on to copy your saves to the Cloud and to be sure not to lose your progress even in the event of problems with your console.
Here, same principle. You have an overview of all your games and apps and you have to choose which ones will sync by themselves each day.
