The lawsuit between Epic Games and Apple reveals since its opening a lot of information, some positive. Indeed, we have just learned of a novelty to come from Epic Games.

At the end of March, the video game studio formalized the arrival of Rocket League Sideswipe, a mobile version of the successful game developed by Psyonix and bought by the company in December 2018. In addition to this simplified version in 2D, we are learning today thatEpic Games are planning to launch a full version of Rocket League on mobile as well.

A different version of Rocket League Sideswipe

This information comes from court documents presented during the trial, and which are publicly available. According to these documents, it seems that the studio may in the future consider unveiling a new version of Rocket League compatible with more platforms including smartphones.

It is not yet clear whether this version will be available on iOS or Android or both. Rocket League is already available for free for PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch players.

Although it is complicated to know more about this new mobile version, it would seem that it means that you can stumble upon a mobile gamer while playing on PC or any other platform. As with Fortnite, the level difference between mobile and PC / console players should be glaring. A phenomenon already observed when Epic Games transformed Rocket League into free-to-play following the takeover.

As for Rocket League Sideswipe, the game should be out soon. Epic Games explains that this version was entirely designed for mobile and will be different from what we currently know from Rocket League.

Since Monday, Epic Games has been on trial against Apple, and many revelations have taken place on both sides. We learned in particular that Apple would have tried everything to push Netflix to keep in-app payments through the App Store.
