For a few hours now, those who have access to Apple’s developer tools can get their hands on the new iOS 14.5, still in beta phase. A few weeks ago, Apple had publicly announced that it was working closely with Microsoft to make iOS compatible, natively, with Microsoft’s new controller. And this is, among other things, what this future iOS 14.5 will allow.
PS5 and Xbox Series controllers soon compatible with iPhone and iPad
This isn’t the first time Apple and Microsoft have collaborated, as the two groups have also worked on iOS support for the Xbox Elite 2 controllers and the Xbox Adaptive Controller. Thus, the new iOS 14.5 allows you to synchronize, via Bluetooth, the new Xbox Series controller to an iPhone, and enjoy your favorite games.
But that’s not all ! Indeed, the future update of iOS will also allow Sony players to connect, still via Bluetooth, their brand new DualSense controller to their iPhone. Remember that Steam recently formalized support for the new Sony controller, followed by Nvidia and its Shield TV box.
As for iOS 14.5, apart from the support for Xbox and PS5 controllers, the update will also bring some improvements and make various fixes. For example, it will soon be possible to simply unlock your iPhone via an Apple Watch while wearing a mask. The Siri assistant will also benefit from various improvements, not to mention new ones for CarPlay …
The new iOS 14.5 update has just entered the beta phase, and should therefore be available to everyone, in its final version, in a few weeks.
