Faced with strong demand, Apple could increase production output of the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max, as well as the iPhone 11. The largest iPhone could see its production rate increase by 11 million per quarter. He also considers it possible that the firm will stop producing the iPhone 12 Mini before the end of the first half of 2021, given the low demand.

Between October and November 2020, Apple launched four smartphones. The iPhone 12, 12 Mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. We have published in our columns the complete tests of the four models. You can also find video tests for the iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Mini on our channel.

These four smartphones have their strengths and weaknesses. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is certainly one of the best videophones on the market today. The iPhone 12 Mini slips very easily into a pocket, without compromising on power. Finally, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro offer a good balance between power, functionality, portability and battery life.

But some are more successful than others. This is particularly the case of the iPhone 12 Pro Max. According to an analyst from the American investment bank JP Morgan, Apple could soon make the decision to increase the production volume of this model. And the increase would not be trivial, since it evokes a progression of 11 million units per quarter.

IPhone 12 Mini production could end before June 2021

Apple would also increase the volumes of the iPhone 12 Pro, by 2 million only, as well as the iPhone 11. Apple could produce 8 million additional units of this model released in 2019. On the other hand, the volumes of the other two models in the 2020 range would be reduced by 9 million for the iPhone 12 and of 11 million for the iPhone 12 Mini. Estimate which joins that of an analyst at Morgan Stanley, published in January 2021. Sales of the iPhone 12 Mini would be bad because it is competed with the iPhone 11, precisely.

The JP Morgan analyst goes even further. According to him, Apple could even stop producing it before the end of the first half of 2021. And that’s a real disappointment. Because the iPhone 12 Mini is a separate product, the positioning of which is almost unique: to offer a high-end smartphone experience in a small smartphone that is very practical to use. In our iPhone 12 Mini test, we praised ease of handling of this smartphone and the power under its small hood. However, a small chassis implies a small battery. And the autonomy is actually not up to expectations.
