Already available in three versions – Turbo, Turbo S and Taycan 4S -, the sporty electric Porsche Taycan will be entitled to a new variant that is less expensive, but also less powerful, confirmed the German manufacturer.
New Porsche Taycan on the horizon: the German firm has confirmed the arrival of a future entry-level version to the British media Car Magazine in the context of an interview. With, for the occasion, some of the first information communicated about this new automotive project.
A more "accessible" model
Here, the idea is to offer a less expensive Taycan than its three cousins presented in 2019: the Turbo and Turbo S versions were the subject of an induction last September, followed a month later by a mid-range version christened Taycan 4S at 108,632 euros. But the Volkswagen subsidiary obviously did not intend to stop on such a good path.
R&D chief Michael Steiner said: " There will be an entry-level model of the Taycan, powered (the power is transmitted to the rear wheels, note) with a smaller battery to make the price more affordable », One can read. This electric car should therefore logically pass under the 100,000 euros mark.
China should also be the country to benefit first, in the course of the year 2021. Porsche considers that this market does not need four-wheel drive vehicles, in particular because of the climatic conditions more favorable to powered vehicles, added Steiner.
Car Magazine also had fun estimating the price of this future electric, which could be sold at around 77,000 pounds sterling, or around 87,000 euros. The 407 kilometers of autonomy allocated to the Taycan 4S, like the 4 seconds shot to perform the 0 to 100 km / h, should therefore be revised downwards for this new model.
