According to several specialized media, the name of the very first electric vehicle from the Japanese manufacturer Subaru has been leaked. Evoltis, from his patronym, should land in the course of 2021 in the form of an SUV.
The Japanese manufacturer Subaru is certainly not the best known automotive company in Europe, but it is nonetheless a historic player in the sector in view of its 67 years of existence. On the Old Continent, the firm from the land of the Rising Sun is particularly known for its emblematic model responding to the name of Impreza.
A world first in October … 2021
At a time when a large part of manufacturers is racing on electric, Subaru has also decided to throw itself into the arena through a very first electrified SUV whose name would now be known, report Carbuzz and Electrive. Known as Evoltis, it will have the right to a world premiere at the Tokyo Motor Show organized in October 2021.
Evoltis is the result of joint work between Subaru and its partner Toyota, with which the group has already worked on several occasions: evidenced by the development of the Crosstrek Hybrid which borrows the hybrid technology of the Toyota Prius. The fact is that the Evoltis project would allow the duo to reduce its development costs, Subaru not having the financial shoulders to assume the whole.
Based on a modular platform supposed to be suitable for medium and large vehicles, the SUV should, according to several reports, be close to a range of 500 kilometers and offer a four-wheel drive configuration. All for a power of 280 horsepower or more. So much information to take with tweezers until the brand has not confirmed them.
The market or markets in which Subaru would like to establish itself remains a mystery. Is it only known that the Evoltis brand was registered in the United States in 2018.
