After offering unlimited internet connection in its cars, Tesla switches to a paid model for connectivity Premium, the standard access remaining free to be able to benefit from GPS navigation.

Already implemented in the United States for several months, billing for the Internet connection in Tesla vehicles is now also applied in France. And if the standard connection remains available, the option Premium will surely be a great success with regard to the limited functions of the basic version.

What does the connectivity pack include Premium

With the connectivity pack Premium, billed at € 9.99 per month, Tesla offers all the well-known Internet panoply of brand aficionados: navigation with satellite view, real-time traffic, music and video streaming, as well as web browsing.

Tesla Model S and Tesla Model X

The standard version, offered automatically with the purchase of a Tesla, only includes navigation. No satellite view, real-time traffic or audio streaming, unless you go through your smartphone.

The good news concerns all Tesla ordered no later than June 30, 2018, for which access Premium remains free if the option was already activated before the entry into force of the new pricing policy.

Which Tesla models are affected by this new pricing?

The new pricing of Internet connectivity therefore concerns all Tesla marketed since July 2018 whether they are Model S, Model 3, Model X or Y.

It should be noted that Tesla offers access Premium for a period of 30 days on the standard version of the Model 3 and one year for the Model 3 with interior Premium as well as on the Model S and Model X.

What arouse the desire to subscribe to a Premium subscription at the end of the trial by its customers. It will indeed be difficult to return to a simple basic navigation after having tasted all the features of the Internet in a Tesla.
