Released in 2018 on PS4 and already featuring an optimization on PS4 Pro, God of War is back with a new “Enhanced Performance Experience” patch for PlayStation 5. This new free update brings next-gen optimization to enhance latest adventures of Kratos and his son Atreus. Enough to make us wait little while waiting for new information around God of War Ragnarök. The latter should arrive this year on PS5… And maybe on PS4 !

It is therefore via its official website that Santa Monica Studio has just announced the deployment of the free PS5 update of God of War today. On the program, the possibility of discovering the latest adventures of Kratos in 4K and 60 FPS.

The improved performance experience for God of War (2018) is coming to PS5 tomorrow!

For players who prefer the “boost” mode of the PS4 Pro, do not panic, the studio indicates on its official website that it will be possible to choose between the new options or the old ones.

You can revert to the original PlayStation 4’s “Favor Resolution” graphics mode at any time by selecting Original Performance Experience, which will provide 4K checkerboard resolution synced at 30 fps.

As a reminder, God of War has been available on PS4 and PS4 Pro since 2018. The game is also part of the PlayStation Plus Collectionsince November 19, 2020 allowing you to get the game for free on PS5 if you are subscribed to PS Plus.

The sequel is coming

Announced at the PS5 conference in September 2020, Ragnarök will be the sequel to the 2018 PS4 reboot. We will once again follow Kratos and his son Atreus in new adventures in the heart of Norse mythology.

The release of this opus is scheduled for 2021 without further details. For the moment and since last September, no information, no image or trailer has been shared by Santa Monica Studio or PlayStation. We just got the right to this logo, a title and a release period.
