IPhone 12 Pro Max survives drop test

PhoneBuff breaks down his test into three different drops. First of all, smartphones are dropped from a height of about one meter on a concrete block so that they fall on the back side. Then both are dropped from the same height on the corners. IPhone 12 Pro Max and Galaxy S21 Ultra pass the first two steps successfully, the YouTuber only noticed a few scratches on the edges.

However, it is during the third fall that the test decides between the two smartphones. Galaxy S21 Ultra screen does not survive front drop, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max remains intact. It therefore seems that the Ceramic Shield of the iPhone 12 Pro Max is more resistant than the Gorilla Glass Victus of the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

PhoneBuff does not stop there since it concludes its video with a “hardcore round”, during which smartphones are dropped ten times in a row on the front from a higher height. Galaxy S21 Ultra screen cracks only get worse, but the screen remains functional. The iPhone 12 Pro Max is much more impressive, since it survives a total of 14 consecutive drops, the last of which is on a concrete block. Unchallenged victory for the Apple smartphone.
