With the arrival of the next-gen last year, we have seen some great announcements. Alas, the start of the year is pretty catastrophic.

Just for the month of January, there are no less than seven postponements! If some limit the breakage with lags of only a few weeks, other games suffer from heavier postponements.

Discover now the list of games (which will be regularly updated) which have been postponed this year and which will arrive later in 2021 or even in 2022.

PRINCE OF PERSIA: REMAKE – NC

  • Initial release date: January 21, 2021
  • Second release date: March 18, 2021

Never two without three for Ubisoft! The video games of the French publisher are not doing very well at the start of the year.

Announced during the Ubisoft Forward in September 2020, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will be the first remake in Ubisoft’s history, scheduled for January 21, 2021. As of its reveal, the game did not win the title. ‘unanimity and many fans were very disappointed with the rendering of the title, very far from being at the level of other remakes that we know (like the Crash Bandicoot, Spyro or even Mafia).

Ubisoft has thus postponed the game without giving reasons until March 18, 2021. Last week, Prince of Persia was once again postponed, but on an unknown date this time. There is a good chance that this big postponement concerns the graphics rendering of the game so as not to disappoint players.

2022 games

HOGWARTS LEGACY: HOGWARTS LEGACY – 2022

  • Initial release date: 2021
  • New current date: 2022

Rumors have been circulating for many months (years?) Of an open world game set in the Harry Potter universe, developed by Warner Bros Games. It was finally during the PlayStation 5 event in September that the game was unveiled. A sumptuous trailer which caused a sensation and which gave an appointment to magicians from around the world for 2021 without further details.

Unfortunately, on January 13, Portkey Games announced the postponement of its game to the year 2022 in order to be able to create the best possible experience for all Harry Potter fans.

.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: GOLLUM – 2022

  • Initial release date: 2021
  • New current date: 2022

The Gollum-centric Lord of the Rings game was announced in March 2019 by Daedalic. The game was scheduled for PC and consoles for 2021. Last year, in January, the game was one of the first to be announced for PS5 and Xbox Series X, still set for 2021.

Problem? This is because the game had no publisher. The Daedalic Entertainment teams were working on a game that could not be released under these conditions. On January 27, we learned that Nacon was going to take charge of the game’s publishing and distribution. Unfortunately, this good news is accompanied by bad news. The title is pushed back to 2022 to guarantee a unique narrative experience in the universe of The Lord of the Rings.

WE WILL MONITOR THEM

Video Games 2021

Announced for 2021, we still have some doubts about the release of certain titles that we are watching carefully without having too many hopes to avoid disappointments. Here are the games that are likely to be postponed until next year.

GRAN TURISMO 7

Expected release date: 2nd quarter 2021

Scheduled for the second quarter of 2021, Polyphony Digital has still not given any new information about Gran Turismo 7 since its announcement in June 2020. Gran Turismo does not usually arrive on time usually with many postponements. The studio’s long silence when the game is due out in three or four months does not bode well.

.

.

HORIZON: FORBIDDEN WEST

Expected release date: 2021

Announced for 2021 without further details, we remain skeptical about the arrival of Horizon Forbidden West. Indeed, with Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart, Gran Turismo 7, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Returnal, Horizon 2 and God of War Ragnarök, Sony plans to release no less than six video games this year.

Even back in the days of the PS4, there hadn’t been such a busy schedule. With the shortage of PS5 in the world, it’s a safe bet that PlayStation will postpone the release of some games for a few months to refine them as well as possible and offer them to as many players as possible.

God of War? Gran Turismo? Or Horizon? Which will come out, which will be pushed back?

.

.

GOD OF WAR: RAGNARÖK

Expected release date: 2021

For the exact same reasons as Horizon Forbidden West just above.

.

.

GOTHAM KNIGHTS

Announced during a special event organized by Warner Bros., Gotham Knights is announced on PC, next-gen and old-gen consoles for 2021. But with the global shortage of consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X) as well as the lack of ‘information, we remain skeptical about the game’s release for this year.

.

.

TOM CLANCY’S QUARANTINE

Tom Clancy’s Quarantine was announced at E3 2019. Expected for 2020, the game was postponed to 2020, then to 2021 without further details. Many rumors circulate around a reboot of the development and a possible name change of the title. Everything seems to indicate that the latter will not arrive before 2022 on PC and consoles.

In total, there are therefore 12 video games that are already likely to be postponed later this year or in 2022. Do not hesitate to consult this article regularly so as not to miss the next updates.
