Expected on a firm footing, as always, the new range signed Apple made the event this fall. Unsurprisingly, and all the more so with the approach of the holidays, the latest smartphones stamped with the bitten apple are flowing like hot cakes. But which ones, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, are the most popular?
Even before their appearance on the shelves, the new iPhones were breaking records. The classic and pro versions more specifically, the first to be released last October, would have recorded between 1.7 and 2 million pre-orders in the first 24 hours, according to the renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. This was more than double the figures seen in the same period for the launch of the iPhone 11 the previous year.
Today, while the range has since been completed with the arrival of the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, and they are now all available in stores (including on the SFR store), the success is confirmed. According to the Nikkei Asia, it would even be such that Apple would have a hard time keeping up – in circumstances where the entire mobile industry is encountering, it must be said, supply issues due to the pandemic. According to several sources close to the file, as quoted by the media, the Cupertino company would nevertheless fully satisfy the strong demand, having planned a production of 95 to 96 million smartphones for the first half of 2021, which would represent an increase by 30% compared to the same period the previous year.
The Pro versions are on the rise
So, certainly, it should be pointed out that the iPhone 12 would not be the only ones affected by this order, with the old iPhone 11 and iPhone SE also in the viewfinder according to the Nikkei. But newborns seem to definitely motivate this increase in production, knowing that Apple had on the contrary recorded two consecutive years of decline in sales in 2018 and 2019. Above all, what we learn from an executive at one of the main suppliers of the Apple brand, once again cited by the Asian media, is that “the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max are particularly performing better than expected in our estimates“.
What explains such a resurgence in popularity for Apple smartphones this year is above all their compatibility, finally, with 5G. We can also mention their new design, certainly premium, or shock performance announced thanks to the new A14 Bionic chip. Not to mention the problems encountered by Huawei due to the American sanctions, which thus open up competitors’ access to a good market share … And then, with regard specifically to the Pro and Pro Max models, no doubt it is thanks to to their camera more elaborate than those of their little brothers, that they thus manage to seduce the public more.
Note that according to the informant of Nikkei, the “classic” iPhone 12, “agrees with predictions“, while the performance of the iPhone 12 mini would however be a bit below expectations. But it can still catch up, given its price yet more advantageous. No doubt that is what the Californian firm hope in any case for this new format …
