Based on the same concept as the Taiwanese Gogoro, the French company ZEWAY will launch its first electric scooters with removable battery in Paris, all accompanied by a network of charging stations through which users can exchange their empty pack. And this, starting next September.
In the world, the idea of ZEWAY is not revolutionary, but in France, it is indeed a first. The three-color start-up will indeed take its first steps in Paris, from September, through a project whose principle is closely related to that of the Taiwanese Gogoro: electric scooters with interchangeable batteries, accompanied by a network of stations filled with full batteries.
Replace your battery in less than a minute
To do this, the young French shoot relies on a recent fundraising of 15 million euros, in which participated in particular Demeter, InnovAllianz, WaterStart Capital and several private investors whose names have not been announced. Interviewed by Christophe Jakubyszyn on BFM Business, during the broadcast Good Morning Business, the boss of the company Amaury Korniloff did not hesitate to give details.
" Our model is a new mobility solution. A solution of electric scooters with exchange of batteries in less than a minute in a network of stations that we will deploy in the city. We will always be less than two kilometers away to exchange our battery ", Distills the interested party. In total, no less than forty battery exchange stations will be installed in the City of Lights.
The business model of the company revolves around a long-term rental offer of 36 months, not a purchase. Users will then be able to take advantage of the SwapperOne in Midnight Blue or Silver Gray, and whose technical specifications limit it to an exclusively urban use: Bosch motor of 3 kW, maximum speed of 45 km / h, 74 kg and three driving modes ( Eco, Ride and Sport).
Monthly package: what advantages?
By paying the monthly package of 130 euros, customers also and above all have access to mileage and swapping unlimited, maintenance, repairs and insurance. Add to that the addition of a reverse gear, a smartphone holder from which a dedicated mobile application can be launched (GPS, battery level, nearby exchange station), a top case of 40 liters and LED headlights.
" Our ambition is European. We want to go to all the big cities, whether French, Spanish or Italian. Especially where there are a lot of two-wheelers to promote this type of solution "Concludes Amaury Korniloff. See you in September for the launch and the first returns.
